Henry Frye – Man of Firsts

Henry E. Frye graduated first in his high school class and launched a string of firsts. He was the first African-American to serve on the North Carolina Supreme Court, and the first to serve as chief justice, first African-American elected to the NC General Assembly in the 20th Century, first African-American to graduate from University of North Carolina Law School, and the first African American Assistant United States District Attorney in the United States.
